How the two games differ
Powerball draws five white balls from a pool of 69, plus one red Powerball from a separate pool of 26. EuroMillions draws five main numbers from a smaller pool of 50, plus two Lucky Stars from a pool of just 12. Powerball runs three draws a week, Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, while EuroMillions runs two, Tuesday and Friday. A smaller number pool and an extra weekly draw are two of the biggest reasons the two games read differently once you put the data side by side.
Powerball's current format, five balls from 69 plus one red ball from 26, started in October 2015. The Powerball figures on this page reflect that current-format era only, so an older Powerball format never gets folded into the numbers you see here, and the comparison with EuroMillions stays on fair terms.
Which should you follow?
Neither game is 'better.' The odds are fixed by each game's own math, set by how many balls sit in each pool, and they don't move because of anything a past draw did.
